Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible to grow incremental revenue within key and strategic accounts while developing an understanding of additional market needs and opportunities to support sustainable, profitable growth. The role will support the development of strategic growth business plans while having accountability and responsibility for developing a new business opportunity funnel. This position will be focused on the development of business in strategic markets utilizing a product portfolio and capability matrix.
This position will work with the Account and Product Managers to develop a clear understanding of strategic markets; major players, how we win, and recommend potential customers to target. It is expected that the Business Development Representative identifies multiple levels of contact within these potential customers and drives the opportunity through the sales process to shipment. Input and strong communication with the commercial team, engineering team and commercial leadership will be required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform research in cooperation with the Market Research Manager on strategic markets for the assigned product line(s) to identify prospective customers
- Build an opportunity funnel based on the research performed utilizing CRM to track and manage activities
- Work with management to develop a process of identifying, targeting, and connecting with prospective customers
- Work cross-functionally with the commercial organization to inform and support efforts to drive growth initiatives
- Drive accountability within the commercial organization with support from the Account Managers, and inside sales reps to ensure that any lead passed along is followed up on in a timely manner
- Work with engineering and technical teams to define product requirements for new products needed to serve a strategic market
- Manage strategic projects commercially where necessary
- Articulate market intel to the Account & Product Manager
- Assist senior management with the annual strategic planning process
- Identification of growth markets where MWC’s products are well suited to support the application requirements
- Supporting of the larger commercial organization as it relates to target markets and customers
- Focus and drive key initiatives of the organization and the business line
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Sales/Marketing or Technical field strongly preferred
- At least five (5) years equivalent work experience with proven professional sales and business development experience within a manufacturing B2B environment
- Experience utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools is preferred
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and message to all levels in the organization
- Proven track record of delivering sales results
- Manufacturing / Precision Machining industry experience preferred
- Strong personal leadership and experience working in manufacturing environment
- Project management experience
- Market assessment and basic marketing process experiences
